Studios run by Graham Sharman at St. Peter Port, Guernsey, is now affiliated to N.A.B.B.A. and Graham tells me the club is doing very well.
From the North-Frank Howgate, who runs the P.C. section at the Y.M.C.A., Dewsbury, has become a Life Member of N.A.B.B.A. Frank is a very keen member and record holder of S.A.W.L. but finds time to look after the bodybuilders as well.
Hon. Life Member Arthur Rad-. cliffe, of Nelson, has had a busy time moving the premises of the Nelson P.C. Club. The new premises are at 7 Bridge Street, Brierfield, on the main bus route between Burnley, Nelson and Colne. There will be room for new members. The club caters for men and women, Arthur's wife Freda, also an Hon. Life Member of N.A.B.B.A., looks after the ladies.
From Weston-Super-Mare N.A.B.B.A. member T. Dymock tells me that his 15-year-old son, I. Dymock, set up three weightlifting records at the Bourneville Boys' Club in a contest organised by the Somerset Association of Boys' Clubs held at Taunton. Ian made the following lifts: Press 1701b; Snatch. 165lb. Clean and Jerk 22016.
N.A.B.B.A. Councillor, Ian Shaw, of Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, tells me his club is still going strong. The Aberdeen Mastrick Club, under Jimmy Moore, recently put on a P.C. show for the benefit of the local R.A.F. station to try and get them interested in P.C. Ian did the compere's job. Jimmy Wood was one of the stars with a fine posing routine and the Beehive Gymnastic Club gave a demonstration of gymnastics.
Belgium: George Dardenne, former Mr. Belgium and a Universe competitor, tells me that he has been informed by Pierre Vandensteen that our old friend Nicolas Kemp
has had a serious motor cycle smash and has shoulder injuries.
Nicolas is a very popular competitor in our Universe contests and had made the trip six or more times. His many friends wish him a speedy recovery and return to training.
Leigh-on-Sea club affiliated : Alan Gooch, club secretary, has affiliated the Albian Barbell Club to N.A.B.B.A. and Alan wins a free N.A.B.B.A. T. shirt.
The Estuary Health Studio, which has been affiliated for a long while, has moved to Southchurch with much bigger premises-room for fifty-Eric Wilder, himself a N.A.B.B.A. Life Member tells me.
Mr. Essex contest: The annual Mr. Essex contest staged by the Barking W/L Club (Ron and John Francis) recently at the Ilford Palais, together with a dance, was won by Henry Greaves. Henry repeated his defeat of Roy Perrott, last year's Mr. Essex winner, who was second. Syd Roberson was third and Tony Gambin fourth. I am told there
was
an entry of about twenty. Picture appears on page 34.
Congratulations to Ron Oakley, formerly of Middlesbrough and winner of many N.E. titles and now well known pro wrestler, on his recent marriage to lovely Athenian ballet dancer. Ron and his wife have now made their home in London.
